Contract Award: Bunagee Marine Development
Deane Public Works Ltd have been awarded the Contract for interconnected Marine and Civil Engineering Development Works at Bunagee Pier and Harbour, Co. Donegal.
The works to be carried out will include as follows:
- The construction of a new concrete pier.
- Rock break out to the sea bed.
- Installation of two floating concrete breakwater pontoon
- Associated anchorages and access between the pontoons.
- Installation of a new access bridge
- Construction of a new breakwater
- Construction of a new carpark.
- Dredging of rock and bed material.
- Aids to marine navigation including daymarks and lights
Demolition of Lisanelly Campus
Deane Public Works Ltd have been appointed as Principal Contractor for the Main Demolition of Lisanelly Campus. The works include for the sustainable demolition of up to 300 buildings within the former army barracks at Lisanelly as part of the Lisanelly Shared Education construction programme.
The Lisanelly Shared Education Campus is a visionary project that will ultimately bring more than 4000 post primary pupils from Omagh schools together on one site and, in doing so, will deliver the country’s first shared education campus.
Demolition works will commence on site in February 2015 and are scheduled to be completed before the end of the year.
Lisanelly construction manager, Jennifer Morgan, said, “The award of the main demolition contract to Deane Public Works, allows us to enter phase two of the sites preparation and move forward with the creation of the Lisanelly Shared Education site”.
Works will include the safe removal of asbestos-containing materials. The vast majority of all materials produced from the demolition process will be recycled or retained on site for reuse as part of Lisanelly Shared Education construction programme, greatly reducing the requirement for importing material to the site.
The majority of suitable materials arising from demolitions will be re-used as hardcore fill within the programme, beginning with the first phase Arvalee School and Resource Centre”

Shortlisted for the same category in 2013 the award comes with the added significance of having a judging panel that included Keith Morrison, Chief Executive, HSENI and Richard McIvor, Chair of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Northern Ireland (IOSH).
A packed Culloden Hotel hosted the prestigious ceremony which is now firmly established as the highlight of the construction calendar in Northern Ireland.
